The instruments illustrated on this page are from the Museum of Musical Instruments, St-Petersburg.

They were mistakenly identified in the 1972 catalogue of the collection (which was compiled by Blagodatov) as "vihuelas". This information (or rather misinformation) caused a lot of confusion among those who are interested in the vihuela. In reality these instruments are:

Late 17th century vaulted-back guitar, possibly German (Inv. No 424)
